So what exactly is a ranking hand? Well, a ranking hand is a collection of five cards that result in you being paid. Following is a breakdown of ranking hands on a typical Jacks or Better machine.
Jacks or Better: This is a pair (two) of Jacks, Queens, Kings or Aces. The typical payout is a push, which means you get your money back.
Two Pair: Two Pair is two pairs of cards of the same rank-for example, two Kings and two Tens. The typical payout is 2x your bet.
Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank-for example, three Kings. The typical payout is 3x your bet.
Straight: Five cards in consecutive order. The suit of the cards does not matter. Example: 2,3,4,5 and 6. The ace can be used before the two or after the king. The typical payout is 4x your bet.
Flush: Five cards of the same suit-for example, all clubs. The typical payout is 6x your bet.
Full House: A full house (or Boat) is three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank-for example, three Kings and two Sixes. The typical payout is 9x your bet.
Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank-for example, four Sixes. The typical payout is 25x your bet.
Straight Flush: Five cards, of the same suit, in consecutive order-for example, 2,3,4,5 and 6. The Ace can be used before the two or after the King. The typical payout is 50x your bet.
Royal Flush: This is the granddaddy of all hands. A Royal Flush is a 10,J,Q,K and A that are all the same suit. If you are not playing max credits, the typical payout is around 62x your bet. However, if you are playing the max coins, you will receive 800x your bet. This is why it's vital that you always play max coins.
